Everyone in the world is familiar with Alice's adventure through the rabbit hole. This 1951 animation is Walt Disney's attempt to adapt the story for children and adults alike.
With beautifully stenciled colors, adorable animation and pleasingly odd caricatures, the makers let loose of their imaginations and made a Wonderland out of it! Similar to Alice, we see the effects of curiosity and the creative journey boredom can bring us into.
But, Alice in Wonderland is definitely more style than substance. In midst of the visual flamboyance and many numbers, the film's almost plotless. It takes well over 75% of the runtime to even arrive at the source of conflict. The 'Walrus and Oyster' story was an unneeded diversion.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
