Spielberg's historical drama-thriller is a neat yet unmoving presentation of gamesmanship.
Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel has silence as his ally. The logline used at the start is a good reference card that's handed out to the audiences, so that regardless how complicated or diverted the story gets, one could still refer back to the initial idea which the film's revolving around at the end of the day. One has to see to believe the way Spielberg captured the U-2 spy plane accident & ejection protocol with spellbinding beauty!
With all the positives mentioned, certain stories just do not have enough engrossing events to be transposed into films, no matter how good the screenwriting, direction or acting are.
