Frozen

Frozen is easily one of Disney’s most visually enchanting and distinguishable animated films ever made. You just have to see for yourself the variation of creations and colors the makers have done with ice! Fjord engulfed by ice, Elsa-built castle, mistletoes, snow particles and many more are simply mesmerizing to say the least!

The songs are already major hits before the film came out, and the visuals only enhance the numbers' impact to new heights! Be it baby Elsa (voiced by Eva Bella) and Anna (voiced by Livvy Stubenrauch) in 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman?', Kristoff (voiced by Jonathan Groff) translating his reindeer's thoughts in 'Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People', stone trolls in 'Fixer-Upper', Anna's (voiced by Kristen Bell) aspiration for finding The One in 'For the First Time in Forever', Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) exploring her powers and transforming herself in 'Let It Go', Olaf's (voiced by Josh Gad) dream to experience summer 'In Summer' or baby Kristoff (voiced by Tyree Brown) and Sven in 'Frozen Heart', the character movements are catchy and the visuals, outstanding! While we are on the topic of soundtrack, it must be mentioned that Christophe Beck's score is the work of a maestro! Just listen to the 'Vuelie' hymns for proof!

Leaving all the ornaments and decorations aside, what's the movie about? Frozen takes place in a fictional kingdom Arendelle, revolving around two princess sisters Elsa and Anna. They were close when they were little, but due to an accident unintentionally caused by Elsa's ice-wielding ability, the pair of siblings were forced to live estranged without contact. On Elsa's Coronation Day, the sisters are left with no choice but to open the castle gates to general public. Of course, a significant mishap happens which forces Elsa to run away from home, leaving Arendelle blanketed under harsh winter. The crux follows Anna's journey to reconnect with her sister and bring summer back to Arendelle.

The relationship between Elsa and Anna is so well portrayed! You could feel how hard it is for Anna to be shut off abruptly by someone she was close with. You could also empathize with Elsa's struggle to control her ability, living in isolation and coercing herself to stay away from Anna so that she wouldn't harm her. It's this restrained relationship that we follow through a rather satisfying journey leading up to a satisfying conclusion. Elsa attacking Anna's heart just like the trolls feared brings about a terrifying deadline as Anna's dying! Anna sacrificing herself so that she could protect her sister is probably the greatest way the story could have concluded! The makers could have easily made it about the special kiss Anna needs that would save her from being frozen, but by throwing herself out there to save Elsa not only brings a stronger act of true love forward that undoubtedly thawed the former's frozen heart, but made the plot drive the point back home - Frozen is a story about this sisters and it always will be!

Despite all the cuteness galore such as Olaf with his own flurry and Prince Hans (voiced by Santino Fontana) with his horse, Frozen could have definitely benefited from axing a couple of songs. Also, the entire snowman troll chase seems out of the motion picture's nature. That sudden change in Hans' character, even with understandable motivation, definitely comes out of left field.
